Welcome to our new Virtual Faculty

We welcome our newest faculty members, who will be teaching classes in our “Jewish Virtual Academy”:

Rabbi Andy Shapiro Katz – Torah and Today

Rabbi Andy received rabbinical ordination in 2004 from Rabbi Daniel Landes and Rav Aryeh Strikovksy.  Andy has taught Talmud and Jewish History at the Weber Jewish Community High School in Atlanta and the Jewish Community High School of the Bay in San Francisco, where he also served as Assistant Head of School.  He also is an author at Bim Bam, and spends his summer teaching at Camp Ramah in the Poconos.  Andy and lives in Beer Sheva (Israel) with his wife Emily (also a Jewish educator) and their four children.

Andy will be teaching a free class on zoom August 31 at 5:00, for post-bar/bat mitzvah age students, on “The proper use of public shaming?”  To register, click here

Sarah Rosenson, JD – Mitzvah Class

Sarah currently teaches both adults and children on various online platforms.  She previously practiced law, and now teaches classes on ethics, philosophy, and world religions for middle and high school students at a private school.  She has a BA from Georgetown University, a JD from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MA in Jewish Studies from the Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies. She lives in New Jersey with her husband, who is the Executive Director of the Pinelands Preservation Alliance, an environmental advocacy group.

Sarah will be offering a free class on “What is the True Test of Repentance,” for students grades 3-6, September 13th at 5:00.  Register here.

  • A La Carte Virtual Judaics: Mitzvah Class, Torah & Today, Torah Through Drama, & Moot Court Competition
  • Classes start October 4th (note the change in date); registration due September 10th
